California: Part two
One of the national parks we were especially looking forward to was Yosemite, and we were not disappointed. We rolled in at about 8:30 in the morning, and thankfully they had a camping spot available, even though it was Labor Day weekend.

We stayed in the Upper Pines campround, right along a great river for DJ to fish in!

We took a hike down to Mirror Lake, which was short and pretty, if it was not for the large gnats and bugs trying to suffocate us.
Mirror Lake, which is not full during the summer months.
I think this is El Capitan.
Thankfully, Yosemite has a great shuttle service, and we were able to take a tour to see some of the most famous peaks in the park. We even got to spot some climbers climbing El Capitan, a peak as high as almost three Empire State buildings stacked on top of each other.

We have lots of fun when we are together camping. Lots of biking, fishing, and general joking around.
Some of Cameron's permanant marker humor.

Please do not ask what is going on in this picture, we have no idea.
The next day, leaving the park for our next location.
Lake Don Pedro... it was fishy.
Our next stop was Napa Valley; another beautiful location. Here is a view of our campsite.

Unfortunately, DJ's bike broke, and he was very sad. Thankfully the people at the office had a truck we could borrow and dad was able to drive to Walmart and get him a new bike!

Dirty DJ after the ride of his life.
The boys went on a bike ride on the trails in the campground, and they were gone for many more hours than mom and I expected. They were fine when they returned, all except DJ, who did not enjoy the experience. Apparently he was very scared.
He was on Dad's phone later that night, and when he asked for it back, DJ passed it to him and said, "Don't spell trail." Guess he needs a break before going back on the trail. His comment is a popular joke in our family now.
Good morning Napa!
We went to Denny's for breakfast the next morning (Thanks Dad!) and got all our breakfast favorites.
Look at the Locklear table at a random time and you might see a similar picture.

Cameron ate five ten-inch pancakes; that's 392.5 square inches of fluffy, syrupy calories.
Until next time, Napa Valley!
